Hi, my name is Julia and I went to UCLA for my undergrad degree, where I joined the ultimate frisbee team and was nicknamed Deja. One of my teammates came up with idea for the title of this blog, which is why it’s Dine with Deja and not Dine with Julia (also, it’s better with the alliteration). In order to offset the copious amounts of sugar I consume during my kitchen adventures, I love swimming, playing ultimate, and exploring the great outdoors.
My love for baking began during my first year of college. During breaks, I would come home and bake with one of my friends from high school swim team, Shelby, and it has now become a bonding point for both of us. Since she was also at a quarter system school, we had breaks at the same time, so whenever we were both off from school we would bake together and catch up. Without her, I doubt I would have discovered the joys of baking, and this blog would not exist.
I started cooking the summer before my third year, to give my mom a break from cooking a couple nights a week, and to prepare for living in an apartment. My favorite “real food” recipes are ones that taste good, are relatively healthy, and are quick and easy to prepare. Now that I live in an apartment, there’s a lot of emphasis on the quick and easy part. My favorite dessert recipes are not healthy, but they are delicious, so I make them, eat them, then go swimming. I hope you enjoy these recipes as much as I enjoy making them!
